The person who "retires" does not receive the 1-point per move bonus, while all players still on the board do. Thus, someone who retires with the score level, will lose. 100% certain. If a person retires with a 1-point lead, and thus sacrifices the move bonus for the turn they exit, then the score ends level. When the score ends level, the game engine picks a random winner. Picking a random winner ought to even out over some range of games, so there is no need to modify the code. (At least in that aspect.) |
