we discussed with some other pilot with different points of view about this point: i agree that it can be fair play to leave someone go when the engine is broken....but i don't think it's a question of honour but only of personal choice (or friendship )...because in the spirit of the game and battle you wouldn't let an enemy fly away with the chance that he is going to shoot down some of your friends the next time....plus being a tactical game you must preserve fuel and engine with some planes if you want to get out alive....then if there is bad luck and your plane is gone ...bring your parachute if i'm behind you !!! ( and i won't get offended if you do the same to me )

As I wrote, I usually stick to the trigger until my opponent goes down in a flaming ball, without concern for lack of fuel or engine, so I expect the others to do the same against me (and, be sure,I never complain about it)...
That's why I think to be deserving - from my point of view - that a pilot like viking62 (who should have no particular reason for sparing me - friendship or respect) just doesn't bother about stats, thus losing 25 points and 1 kill !!!
Even if I usually show no mercy and don't beg any, I still admire who adheres to a fair code of conduct who pays off less.
But that's just my 1 eurocent opinion, of course !!!

I just read a documentary from WWI, when aircraft was first introduced in the Air. It is the ancient art of war in the sky where the pilots act as Knights in the Middle age. Well I sometimes will let go my opp if they are fair and good pilot. (and also for training games). But in real war, Mercy to your enemy sometimes is fatal, as in 'Saving Private Ryan'
