| Message text A Mental Exercise -
Hi all
I have been introducing some of my students to games beyond Monopoly and Snakes and Ladders and so one of the games I showed them was Vampiring since it takes a few pieces of paper and cardboard to demonstrate.
Anyway - we got to thinking that there could be a more advanced set of rules which could change the way things work in Vampiring. Some of these work and not but this is what we have experimented with or proposed so far.
Additional Location Cards:
Pick Up Card - We created a additional element to the game where players would play three cards each turn:
Transformation (ie Wolf to Bat to Man or Wolf to Man to Bat) Movement direction Modifier (We created extra cards that modified the game or move in some way)
The Pick Up Card Location allows players to get these cards.
The Cards:
Reveal Transformation - If this card is played all players would reveal which change they are making and would be free to change thier movement direction card
Reveal Direction - As above but direction is revealed
Annul - A location would be temporarily removed from the game for the duration of a round
Stasis - The player's pieces would not move for this round
Double Points - Any points scored by the player in that round would be doubled
Potion - Restores a blood token
Suction Trap - This is played under a location card and when any player lands on it he/she loses a blood token and this token is given to the player who played the trap - The trap is then removed. Multiple players would all be affected
Change Transformation - Reverse the direction of the transformation for all players
Change Direction - As above but for direction
Teleport - Move one piece to any place on the board.
Soul Exchange - Exchange blood tokens with another player
Neutralize - This card neutralizes the effects of all cards played this round.
Magic Missile - As long as the two pieces are adjacent, the player can wound an opponents piece as he would if they were in the same place.
Reaver - Additional non-player piece that wins all fights except against those of its master. It moves 2 spaces. Its owner must sacrifice a card or token each turn to keep it in play.
Mars - God of War - Turns all non combat zones into combat zones and doubles all damage done.
Athena - God of Wisdom - No damage can be done this turn at all
Glue - Changes a Move Again square into a normal square for the duration of a turn.
Freeze - Target players pieces do not move this turn
