I still don't understand the rules. Do I play numerous games against Rumpler until one of us shoots the other down 5 times? Or do I play games against everyone else in the tournament and post if/when I get 5 kills?

I think you and I play as many games as we need until one shoots the other one down or forces a retirement that is not allowed in the rules (i.e., with more than 5 fuel, or with no undamaged areas, etc.) 5 times.
That being said, I wish we had a more concise definition of what is an illegal retirement. I think that this is due to some language limitations. Could an Italian speaker get with Mauri and post to clarify in English?
