There have always been instances of friendly fire, but in our sanitised game this cannot happen.
But, what do you think of the planes firing regardless of who the target is, so if a friendly plane flies in front of you, you become trigger happy and shoot at it.
Many, many instances of this happening and would make team play that little bit more interesting.
An extra button on the game set-up page - and a lot of work behind the scenes I am sure.
I said that I was mad, I know that I am mad.
See you in the skies,

While it's true that ground fire was often quite indiscriminate, shooting at any plane that came within range, I don't I recall reading any friendly fire accounts between planes in WW1 in the various journals and histories I've read to date.
What I'd be inclined to see added, perhaps, is a chance for collision if planes end in the same space, with perhaps a higher chance based on relative angles. Thus planes flying on the same heading would have a the least chance and those flying on opposite headings have the greatest.
