golem is right - one cannot "ignore" the stats. They are being kept. People will look at them. But really, don't "worry" about what other people do.
However, any penalty for fleeing will disadvantage the german planes (well, more specifically any plane with less fuel). They will tend to be forced to run sooner.
I have often thought there should be a more "realistic" way to use fuel. For example, you have an analogue fuel gauge - you can never be sure exactly how much is left - and it drops faster if you use higher speed moves. All planes start with the same amount (ie enough to fly medium speed for 25+/- turns). This way you cannot know exactly when you will be out of fuel. And the pilot that flies too fast will crash and burn!!!
On the other hand, the playing field is level right now. We all know what planes can do what. The only change I might suggest is the "auto-enroll in all planes" - when you create a scenario, you automitically create X versions - with you enrolled in each plane. But again, the site is fun the way it is. Just don't stall.
