How about you use the world standard of GMT as I for one have no idea what time you mean - without looking it up.

Europe is GMT +1
New York is GMT -5
I'm guessing that PST is GMT -8

Given that the vast majority of users are in Europe using an American time zone seems rather unfortunate. You shut down the system when we are all online - great planning, doesn't inconvenience your users at all.

UTC - Coordinated Universal Time - was created by the USA because they no longer wished to use GMT - Greenwich Mean Time. In 1960 the Americans coordinated their new atomic clocks to GMT then said that they had created universal time. For your information GMT has been used as the universally accepted time from which all other time zones are adjusted since 1847.

UTC = GMT
UTC-1 = GMT-1

Why bother changing it? What a waste of time, space and energy - bit like this post.
