I am interested in learning more about the era of Napoleonic Naval warfare. Does anyone have suggestions of good books to read on this subject

Have your friend to google for "The Northern Mariner" a Canadian website. There are short articles spanning various periods.

Two of my favorites articles are:

"The Capability of Sailing Warships Part 1: Windward Performance"
by Sam Willis
from "The Northern Mariner/Le marin du nord, XIII No.4,(October 2003), 29-39.

and

"The Capability of Sailing Warships Manoeuvrability"
by Sam Willis

As for books. If you can find them (both published in the 1970s) for single ship duels or small battles:
