I would hate to wreck any game by entering being so new to the game. In other words, is there a place for newbies learning the game?

The simple answer is, just get stuck in. Sure you'll lose a couple at the start, but we learn from our mistakes.
Hint 1) try to tail people as often as possible
2) Try not to get shot at before thinking of shooting...
3) Don't try to crash passworded games.
4)Have fun
