It's a good idea, but there are some implementation difficulties.
Every player should be permitted to create and mantain his personal squadron (accepting or refusing subscriptions).
Every player should be able to subscribe 1 (or more?) squadrons.
We would need to create an entire site subsection for this.
On the other hand we are already working to another (a bit more general) site improvement needing a quite similar subsections to start with.
This means it's already in the ToDo list even if, in the end, the result will be a little bit different 
We'll see.
