Message text The poem that falconfab posted and I badly translated is related to WWI.
It comes to me that, being european, I feel different thinking about the two wars. While WWII still fills me with horror thinking of what it was won aginst, WWI fills me with grief, guilt and a feeling of brotherhood.
IOW, being born in a country that fought that one, and nephew of people that actually fought, the feeling I get when thinking of my old enemies (they were Austrian and german, but could as well have been British or French or Spanish), i feel like embrace them crying and say: "Oh brother, never, never again this shall happen among us."
That's exactly how I feel now. I'm embracing you and crying, brothers. |
