Message text The rules use the word "surrender" for losing all hull squares and under certain circumstances for losing all guns and rigging. See section VIII.D: Marking Hits and the Effects of Damage. It says nothing like that for uncrewed ships. Since fire cannot be directed at surrendered ships, I've always played that uncrewed ships can be targeted.
Remember, a ship with no crew can't really surrender -- it just sits there doing nothing. On this site, points are awarded for killing the crew because it does remove the ship from combat, but in the Basic (and in-development Advanced) rules those points go away if the ship is later re-crewed.
Also, a ship might be uncrewed voluntarily, like if it's badly damaged and the owner wants to avoid losing them, or through boarding parties. If you couldn't fire at an uncrewed ship, abandoning it would make it invulnerable. |
