I play in 2-3 online campaigns of Neverwinter Nights every week. markrendl A few interesting posts so far. I think it is pretty cool that someone is really using the Neverwinter Nights campaign features. Do you just find people online, or are you gaming with a long term group of known, or online, friends?
Originally, I started out just playing NWN1 in single player mode offline, mostly enjoying modules created by users and uploaded to NWVault. Later, I rounded up a circle of old college D&D gaming buddies to play thru a series of multi-player modules together online over a course of about a year or two.
Now, I mostly play with groups organized thru neverwinterterconnections.com, a website for matching up players, which is undergoing a major overhaul - so not fully functional atm. The latest campaign I've joined, was one advertized thru NWN forums hosted by Bioware - the game creator.
Though NWN is now 10 years old, there continues to be a quite strong core community of players, DMs, PWs one can play on and - quite importantly, mod'ers creating new custom content to further improve and expand what one can do with the original game engine.
New custom content and enhancements have expanded gaming possibilities beyond fantasy settings to Mod D20, such as SciFi, horror, western or WW2.
As people can buy the whole collection of the game and expansions now via GOG.com as a digital DL for just $10, new players continue to discover and join in the mayhem.
If you ever enjoyed D&D, or similar sorts of RPG's, You'll be in for a pleasant surprise if you give NWN1 a spin.
