June 11th 2011: Moving to a new server

Dear youplayers,

during this weekend we will move the whole site to a brand new server. For this reason the site will remain close for a couple of hours to allow the copy of the site and all the other data needed to run it properly.

During this phase we will update a service page to let you know the current activity.

April 18th 2011: Wooden Ships and Iron Men fully debugged

Hey Captains!

After a long period of test and bug fixing, we finally have a fully debugged version of WS&IM. Thanks to the geat work done by BlueDragon we have a fully revised and debugged version of WS&IM.
There was a big work on enhancing the messages and game report. Among other minor bugs, here the complete list of things that are changed or fixed:
  • A-B-C bug: if in the same turn ship A captured ship B and ship B captured ship C, ship C was owned by A (instead of B).
  • Coalitions were not displayed when all their ships had been captured
  • Crew hits were not applied to BP
  • Excess guns hits were not converted into hull hits
  • Hostility Timer was not clear
  • Crew was transferred (to and from) even if ship had surrendered in the same turn
  • Empty Boarding Party Selection window appeared when ships grappled and ungrappled in the same turn
  • Ship which surrendered by firepower could still attack by OBP in the same turn
  • Surrenderer by firepower was "simplified" compared to original rules
  • Ships surrendered by firepower could be fired upon
  • Firing procedure algorithm didn't switch target if first candidate was a struck ship with better HDT
  • Grappled/Fouled ships were able to fire at each other's rigging
  • Captured ships got both captured ship and crew loss modifier
  • Crew hits were not shared between prize crew and prisoners
  • Unfouling dice roll unfouled on 3-4-5-6 instead of 1-2
  • Ships surrendering by immobility were counted as surrendered already during fire phase (so they did not fire sometimes)
  • Ships surrendered by striking were considered sunk and fired through
  • Ships without rigging could turn every turn even while drifting
  • Surrendered ships were not able to "unsurrender"
  • Surrendered ships couldn't be boarded
  • OBPs against multiple ships didn't work
  • Game was ended after 10 turns with no shots, even if melee had been done and hostility timer wasn't shown
  • Having too many fouls/graps per ship caused 500 internal server error
  • Boarding a struck ship resulted in losing your boarding party
  • When using multiple OBPs, if a melee lasted 3 turns, subsequent OBPs were not processed
  • Enemy ships without crew couldn't be boarded
  • Surrendered ships lost their crew when captured
  • Surrender score was not given if you caused no damage on enemy ship even if you forced its surrender
  • Leading OBP was transferred twice in multiple ship attacks
  • Ships didn't fire against crewless ship
  • Carronades were not always hit first
  • Players who lost all their ships were not able to rejoin game if one of their ships was later able to free itself
  • League game points were not assigned to the correct player
  • Unfouling default has been changed to ALL
  • Some moves were not processed correctly as they caused infinite loops in the code
  • Struck ships could be boarded in the turn they strike
  • History controls didn't allow to see turn before last
  • Removed house rule that used of tonnage to decide collision winner
  • During collisions, only the "loser ship of the collision" was stopped.

We also changed the league scoring system for leagues over number 7150. For more info about the new scoring system, please read the rule page.

Popularity will tell you how often this scenario is played.

Balance will tell you if a scenario is balanced or one side have some advantage. This value is not calculated for unpopular scenarios for which there are too few played games.
