Why we are asking for your support
You Play It is born because we like board games and we wanted a way to play it even when we were not together in the same room.
When the first version of Cartagena was ready, we played it and found it very nice so decided to let other users play it online. So we
registered the YouPlay.It domain and started to welcome users.
All the users that played Cartagena found it very nice and helped us remove the last bugs. After a while we finished also the development
of Simplifed Blue Max, the game who caused our traffic to grow 10 times in a week! We then added W il Re / King Me! just after its publication
and many other players arrived. We added a custom game, Vampiring, as an experiment and we began the development of Wooden Ships and Iron men (the most complicated games by far).
We continue to develope the site and the number of players constantly grows, at the beginning of 2004 there where at least 600 people who plays
at least once in a week, while in 2005 the weekely players rose to 850, reaching one thousand at the beginning of 2006.
The Internet traffic constantly grew and the processing power needed to serve all the players grew with it. Thus, in June 2004, we decided to buy a dedicated server and the bandwidth necessary for the site to rapidly respond to the gamers.
Obviously all this does not comes for free... for these reasons we are asking your support: 12.00€ or 15.00$. This is something like one Euro a month for one year. It looks like a reasonable
amount of money every serious player could invest in order to continue to play these games.
And the future deserve others games...
